This time, we would like to introduce YAKITORI KOUBOU Gomizukitchen in Wakayama City.
When one thinks of Wakayama, seafood is the first thing that comes to mind, but those of you who have probably had your fill of it during lunch are probably craving something else for your evening meal. This time, I would like to report on this restaurant for those who are looking for something different for their evening meal.
The store is located in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.

In front of the restaurant, quite a few cars can be parked, which is unusual for an izakaya. However, the restaurant is designed for drinking, so those who want to drink should walk to the restaurant.
Menu & Taste
The menu is named YAKITORI Kobo, and as one would expect from a place named YAKITORI Kobo, there is a wide variety of chicken skewers on the menu. From the standard Nami (thigh) skewers to the tail and heart skewers, there is something for every taste.
The menu includes not only the standard salt and sauce, but also a variety of Italian dishes, wasabi mayo, parmesan + mentaiko + cheese, and more.
Well, at any rate, this would be a good place to start.
Here is the appetizer. Well, well.
I didn’t want to order a salad by myself like a fashionable girl, so I chose the easy-to-order Tare Cabbage. The menu was extremely simple, just raw chopped cabbage with sauce.
Here is the first skewer. Chicken liver skewers. Salt and sauce are often seen on skewers, but this skewer with scallion and sesame oil is one that is hard to come up with. The texture of the raw liver is exquisite
On the chicken menu, I personally recommend the tail skewer every time.
Only the standard (meat). The fact that it is not called “Momo Kushi” (peach skewers) shows the care that has been taken in the preparation of this dish.
I had another drink around here. This is the best drink to go with yakitori. It is served at room temperature in a sake bottle, which is a nice touch.
Now that we’ve enjoyed the variation of parts, let’s move on to how to eat it. Tomatillo-Italian with the aroma of tomatoes, cheese, and basil.
Once again, the skewer menu is so extensive that it is hard to look at the rest of the menu, but there is a wide variety.
A fried burdock root that is rustic and just right for a chopstick rest.
By the way, as is the case with beef and pork, most people don’t understand what is meant by the name of the part of a chicken. For such people, this restaurant kindly provides explanations of the names of the parts.
So, from the rare parts, chicken hormone and furisode. I’m still not sure where the hormone refers to, but from the way I ate it, it was probably kokoronokori (hatzumoto).
Around here, we refill it. At first glance, it looks like we are drinking the same thing, but the contents have been changed to hot sake.
Something to fill your stomach
I wanted something carbohydrate-based and chose Jaga Cheese Mochi.
Personally, I wanted to finish with Wakayama ramen.
Since the restaurant is a chicken restaurant, I chose chicken rice this time.
I was also interested in octopus and mentaiko, but I decided to go with jako (baby sardines).
I thought, “I’ll have to try that,” but it turned out to be a lot more adult-sized baby sardines than I had expected. But it was delicious.
That’s all for this issue.
The restaurant has a high Google rating of 4.2 and offers a wide variety of chicken parts from the standard to the rare, as well as creative variations such as Italian and wasabi mayo.
If you don’t want to make such an easy choice, please take a look at this restaurant.
